Saturday a fight on a flight, basically a flight-fight broke out on an Allegiant Air traveling from Arizona to Utah. And guess what? It was caught on video! Whoa!
Passenger Rylie Lansford had just boarded the flight when the older man seated behind her was asked to put on a face mask. The man who was already wearing a face shield and boarded that way.
The passenger and the flight attendant were having a low-key argument over the mask vs. the shield when another passenger started heckling the man wearing the shield and that is when things escalated. Other passengers got involved using foul language and it got physical. Both men were threatened to be kicked off the flight if they didn't stop.
Security came to escort the "shielded" passenger and Lansford believes he may of thrown a punch at the "heckler". In the end "shielded" off the plane - "heckler" got to stay.
You may be asking, isn't a shield considered a mask? Good question.
FOX 13, Salt Lake was given this statement by Allegiant Air on their guidelines on wearing face masks on flights.
"Face coverings must be made of a solid material, fully cover the mouth and nose, fit snugly against the face, and be secured under the chin. Prohibited coverings include those with exhalation valves, holes (such as lace or mesh), neck gaiters, and bandanas. Face shields may be worn in addition to a face covering, but not as an alternative."
