LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped two-tenths of a cent today to $3.214, the 10th time in 11 days it changed by two-tenths of a cent or less.
The average price is six-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 58.5 cents lower than one year ago but six-tenths of a cent more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price has decreased 40.1 cents since the start of the year. It rose two-tenths of a cent on Monday.
The Orange County average price dropped six-tenths of a cent to $3.182 after changing by one-tenth of a cent or being unchanged by one-tenth of a cent for six consecutive days. It is six-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 1.5 cents lower than one month ago and 57.2 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price has decreased 36.3 cents since the start of the year. It dropped one-tenth of a cent on both Monday and Tuesday.
“Wholesale prices have been dropping on news of increased inventory, so pump prices have been dropping, although slightly,'' Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
“There is a lot of room for prices to come down if the trend continues.''
