LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Christopher Nolan's “Tenet” led the North American box office in its fourth weekend of release, taking in $4.7 million Friday through Sunday while surpassing the $250 million mark internationally, according to industry estimates released today.
The thriller starring John David Washington -- the first major international Hollywood release since theaters shut down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic -- has grossed $36.1 million in North America and $250.1 million worldwide, the industry tracking group Comscore reported.
“The New Mutants” grossed $1.6 million in its fourth weekend at theaters in the United States and Canada to claim second place.
It was followed by the thriller “Infidel,” starring Jim Caviezel, which debuted to $1.5 million.
“Unhinged,” a violent thriller starring Russell Crowe, grossed $1.3 million in its sixth weekend in theaters.
The romantic comedy “The Broken Hearts Gallery” took in $800,000 in its second weekend.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “After We Collided” with $304,000, “The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run,” with $210,000, “Alone” with $190,000, “Bill & Ted Face the Music” with $187,000, and “The Personal History of David Copperfield” with $150,000.
Movie theaters in Los Angeles County remain closed indefinitely, but Orange County has reopened its theaters with limited capacity.
