LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose three-tenths of a cent today to $3.221, its highest amount since March 24.
The average price has risen four consecutive days, increasing 1.4 cents, including four-tenths of a cent on both Wednesday and Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 1.1 cents more than a week ago and 5.4 cents higher than one month ago but 34.9 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 39.4 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price rose one-tenth of a cent to $3.202 after increasing by a half-cent two consecutive days.
The Orange County average price is at its highest amount since March 23. It is seven-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 4.2 cents higher than one month ago but 34.7 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 34.3 cents since the start of the year.
“Many Gulf Coast refineries closed ahead of Hurricane Laura's landfall (Thursday) morning, but initial reports indicate minimal damage to refinery facilities,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
“Los Angeles is expecting a large shipment of imported gasoline components (Friday), putting some downward pressure on wholesale gasoline prices.''
