LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Peet's Coffee is helping to get the new school year off to a good start with a free drink tomorrow for Los Angeles Unified employees at any of the company's 13 Los Angeles locations.
Shira Goldman, the parent of a sixth-grader, wanted to find a way to help district employees coping with new challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic and reached out to Peet's Coffee, according to LAUSD Superintendent Austin Beutner.
“This is a great example of our parents and community working with Los Angeles Unified to support our employees,'' Beutner said. “I am grateful to Peet's Coffee for their generosity and parent Shira Goldman for her efforts on behalf of all who work in our schools.''
Teachers, other school-site staff and all employees can receive a free beverage of their choice anytime during the day Tuesday by showing their district or school ID.
“Teachers have helped keep our schools running during such crazy times,'' Peet's Greater Los Angeles District Manager Bernie DeChellis said. “They have quickly adapted and helped thousands of children around Los Angeles move to learning online.
“This has taken so many extra hours, and a huge effort on their part,'' he said. “Peet's is excited to offer our support to the Los Angeles Unified family as a way to show our appreciation to our educators and all of those who support them through these unprecedented times.''
