Third LA Galaxy II Game Postponed After Multiple Positive COVID-19 Tests

CARSON (CNS) - The third consecutive LA Galaxy II game has been postponed because of a coronavirus outbreak on the team, USL Championship announced today.

The planned Aug. 12 game against Phoenix Rising FC at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson was rescheduled for Aug. 19. Like the other two postponements, the game was postponed “out of an abundance of caution'' following the positive coronavirus tests, according to the league.

Eleven “covered persons'' with LA Galaxy II had tested positive in testing conducted July 28, prompting postponement of last Wednesday's game against San Diego Loyal SC, the league announced Thursday.

The Division II men's soccer league announced Tuesday that LA Galaxy II's planned game Friday against Orange County SC in Irvine has also been postponed.

Both games will be rescheduled.

LA Galaxy II is the reserves team of the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer.

USL health and safety protocols require all covered persons to undergo weekly testing.
