Actor Morgan Freeman is using his iconic voice to help bring late Congressman John Lewis' final words to life.
Lewis had asked The New York Times to publish an essay he wrote titled: "Together, You Can Redeem The Soul Of Our Nation" on the day of his funeral.
On MSNBC, Freeman read the essay that urges people to carry out the civil rights icon's final message which says in part:
"Though I may not be here with you, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe. In my life I have done all I can to demonstrate that the way of peace, the way of love and nonviolence is the more excellent way. Now it is your turn to let freedom ring.”
Congressman Lewis, who died of cancer on July 17th, was laid to rest yesterday following a funeral in Atlanta.
