LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Thousands of Spectrum Internet customers in parts of Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties were affected this morning by an outage that also impacted customers across the country.
Reports of the widespread outage started filling Twitter and other social media at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Spectrum later confirmed thousands of its customers across the country were offline.
“Spectrum is investigating thousands of customers' reports of a widespread internet outage in parts of Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties,'' the company said. “Our engineers are working to get this corrected for you as quickly as possible. We don't have an estimated restoration time.''
In addition to Los Angeles, other affected cities include Anaheim, Burbank, Santa Ana and Riverside. There have been scattered reports of service being restored in some communities, but service is still out for many others.
Calls to Spectrum's information number are being deferred with a message that they are too overwhelmed to answer at this time.
