Mattel has launched an election themed Barbie collection with a diverse cast of ladies.
The Barbie 2020 Campaign Team features four diverse dolls made to show young kids public leadership roles with a full political campaign team: the candidate, the campaign manager, the fundraiser and the voter.
This collection also highlights different ethnicities, including having a Black candidate.
Senior vice president and global head of Barbie & Dolls at Mattel, Lisa McKnight, says
"With less than a third of elected leaders in the US being women, and Black women being even less represented in these positions, we designed the Barbie Campaign Team with a diverse set of dolls to show all girls they can raise their voices."
As part of the collection, Mattel has additional resources available online, like play ballots and printable activities, including prompts to write their own campaign speeches.
