People that attended a wedding in California are seeing after-effects of COVID-19.
The 2 newlyweds and 8 guests have tested positive for coronavirus. There were 100 people present at the ceremony.
The wedding was held at SS Peter and Paul church in San Francisco. Pews were taped off to encourage social distancing. Before the wedding, City Attorney Dennis Herrera sent a cease and desist to the San Francisco Archdiocese to stop the event from happening.
On the day of the wedding, a city official showed up after hearing a tip about the event. The ceremony was moved outside. Some people watched the wedding on Zoom from their cars. Even still, COVID cases started popping up. A 40 person rehearsal dinner was held days before on the rooftop of a restaurant.
An anonymous patron has since alleged that the group did not wear masks or observe safe social distancing, though a Harborview spokesperson has disputed the claims.
“From my observations, the guests wore masks or were sitting separately at socially distanced tables,” spokesperson Karen Liu told the outlet, emphasizing that the restaurant “very seriously” heeds health and safety regulations and explaining that Harborview worked with the host to seat guests at tables with members of their family or household.
