Average L.A. Gas Price Unchanged, Orange County Average Drops Slightly

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged today, remaining at $3.073, the fifth consecutive day it has changed by two-tenths of a cent or less.

The average price was unchanged Friday, ending a run of 36 increases in 38 days totaling 19.7 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose two-tenths of a cent on Saturday, dropped two-tenths of a cent on Sunday and rose one-tenth of a cent on Monday.

The average price is 1 cent more than a week ago and 12.7 cents higher than a month ago but 69.6 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 54.2 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price recorded its second decrease in three days and third in 56 days, dropping four-tenths of a cent to $3.055. It also dropped one-tenth of a cent on both June 15 and Sunday.

The Orange County average price is 1 cent more than one week ago and 13.8 cents higher than one month ago but 66.9 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 49 cents since the start of the year.

“Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices have dipped in recent days, reportedly on concerns about a demand slump due to the large jump in coronavirus cases locally,'' Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California, told City News Service.
