Adult Film Star Ron Jeremy Pleads Not Guilty in Rape Case

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Adult film star Ron Jeremy pleaded not guilty today to charges of raping three women and sexually assaulting another in separate attacks dating back to 2014.

The 67-year-old defendant -- whose real name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt -- was ordered to remain jailed in lieu of $6.6 million bail, despite a defense request to lower the amount which had been set shortly before he was taken into custody Tuesday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom.

The man known for starring in hundreds of adult films pleaded not guilty today on charges of raping three women and sexually assaulting another in three separate attacks that date back to 2014.

On Monday, Ronald Jeremy Hyatt, better known as porn star Ron Jeremy, was charged with three counts each of forcible rape and forcible penetration by a foreign object as well as one count each of forcible oral copulation and sexual battery.

The 67-year-old was taken into custody Tuesday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom and remains behind bars in lieu of a $6.6 million bail as of Thursday afternoon, jail records show. The judge ordered he remained jailed despite a motion by the defense to lower the amount of Jeremy's bail.

Jeremy has been accused of raping a 25-year-old woman at a home in West Hollywood in May 2014. He's also charged with raping a 33-year-old woman and sexually assaulting a 46-year-old woman on two separate occasions at a West Hollywood bar in 2017. Prosecutors have also accused Jeremy of raping a 30-year-old woman at the same bar in July 2019.

The case stemmed from a two-year investigation, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Jeremy faces up to 90 years to life in prison if convicted on all charges, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. He's due back in court on Aug. 31 for a hearing that will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to allow the case against him proceed to trial.
