Diego the Tortoise is finally retiring after decades of service. Diego is credited with making an enormous contribution to the revival of the tortoise population in the Galapagos islands. How did he help? Well, he has fathered almost half of the current tortoise population as part of a breeding program. About 50 years ago, there were only 2 males and 12 females of his species and no there are over 2,000. That means Diego is the father of as many as 1,000 tortoise offspring. Happy early Father’s Day, you literal stud.
