This 'COVID-Free' Italian Town is Selling Homes for $1

In the market for a new home?

Thinking about getting away from California?

Like, far away???

If so, you may just want to check out the deals along coastal Italy, where one town is selling homes for just $1! Yes, you read that right... One. DOLLAR. (Well, it would actually be one euro... But still!)

The town, Cinquefrondi, is hoping to attract visitors and residents with a sales tactic that they're calling "Operation Beauty". The town's mayor says they want to revitalize the area after many of its young residents left town for better jobs.

"Finding new owners for the many abandoned houses we have is a key part of the Operation Beauty [mission] that I have launched to recover degraded, lost parts of town," Cinquefrondi Mayor Michele Conia told CNN. "I grew up in Germany where my parents had migrated, then I came back to save my land. Too many people have fled from here over the decades, leaving behind empty houses. We can't succumb to resignation."

Cinquefrondi is also bragging that their town is "COVID-free" in hopes of attracting even more future residents...

So, there's got to be a catch right?! Of course there is, but only one: buyers must renovate their homes within three months of moving in, and they must carry an annual $250 insurance policy on the home.
