'Cops' has officially been canceled by the Paramount Network...
The first episode of the show's 33rd season was scheduled to premiere on Monday, but the show has actually been put "on hold" since before June. As you can guess, the decision to put the program on hold was made when protests first began over the killing of George Floyd at the hands of police.
But on Tuesday, the Paramount Network announced their plans to cancel the show altogether.
"Cops is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return," a network spokesperson said.
Another cop show, 'Live PD,' has also been removed from the schedule on the A&E Network, despite being number the number one cable show on Friday and Saturday nights.
'Cops' first premiered on FOX back in 1989. After 25 seasons on the Fox Network, the show was picked up in 2013 by Spike TV, a forerunner of the Paramount Network. But one thing's for sure: The show might be canceled, but the theme song will never be forgotten...
