LONG BEACH (CNS) - The Long Beach Police Department today shifted into a modified, stage-two tactical alert, possibly in response to a planned afternoon demonstration at their headquarters.
“It means we're prepared for anything that may go on,'' Long Beach police Lt. James Richardson said. “We have the ability to pull resources if itis needed.''
Richardson said the department found an internet posting of a planned 3 p.m. demonstration in front the Long Beach Police Department, 400 W.Broadway.
“We're prepared for it,'' he said. “Hopefully, it will be peaceful.''
In preparation of the demonstration, windows of businesses along Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach have been boarded.
Richardson said city officials have not yet made plans to implement a curfew.
