Average L.A. County Gas Price Rises For 12th Consecutive Day

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 12th consecutive day and 16th of the past 17, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $2.946.

The average price has risen 8.7 cents over the past 17 days, including four-tenths of a cent Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 3.2 cents more than a week ago and 11.2 cents higher than a month ago but $1.019 less than one year ago. It has decreased 66.9 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price rose for the 24th time in 25 days, increasing 1.5 cents to $2.917. It has risen 14.7 cents over the past 25 days, including one-tenth of a cent Friday. It rose for 20 consecutive days, was unchanged Tuesday and resumed rising Wednesday.

The Orange County average price is 3.6 cents more than one week ago and 12.5 cents higher than one month ago but $1.015 less than one year ago. It has dropped 62.8 cents since the start of the year.
