St. Vincent Medical Center in Westlake closed it doors in January. The city then paid $15 million to reopen their doors so they could take in COVID-19 patients.
A month later, only 65 patients made their way in.
The hospital was meant to provide the state with 55,000 additional beds. They only needed to use 65.

“We are grateful we have not had to utilize the full capacity of the surge hospital, but there is still work to be done with the current staff on hand,” the spokesperson said.
There are no plans yet for the hospital going forward, but more could be known “maybe toward the end of the week,” Rodger Butler of the California Health and Human Services Agency said Monday.
