Authorities are searching for a man or teenage boy who was caught on video throwing an egg at a masked vendor in the Florence area near South Los Angeles.
The video, which appears to be filmed by the car's driver, shows a passenger in the vehicle call out to the street vendor, beckoning him closer. As the vendor approaches, the man or boy can be heard telling the vendor he had dropped some cash on the ground. When the vendor turns to look, the passenger throws a raw egg at the vendor's chest, as the driver drives away.
The attack occurred near Florence and Central avenues, but sheriff's officials say that while they're uncertain when the incident exactly happened, the perpetrator shared the video on social media over the last week.
“During this pandemic, choose to stay home next time. In the meantime we'll be in touch,” the sheriff's department wrote on Twitter in a message to the suspect.
Deputies are asking for the public's help to identify the suspect and the victim. They're encouraging anyone with any information about the incident to contact L.A. Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
