The Do's and Don'ts for Avoiding Germs at the Grocery Store

People are keeping to the safer at home rules well and are only going out to the market to get some food.

So how do you make sure you stay safe and keep germs to a minimum on your trip?

We have some do's and don'ts to help you out!

Do wear a mask....period.

Do take advantage of special early shopping hours if it applies to you...a lot of stores open an hour early exclusively for seniors, the disabled or those who are immunocompromised.

Do keep some disinfectant wipes on hand...while most grocery stores have stepped up their cleanliness, it’s never a bad idea to have your own disinfectant wipes to clean carts and other surfaces.

Do have a plan for what you’re going to get...the less time you spend in the grocery store the better.

Do use hand sanitizer after you shop and do wipe down your phone, wallet and keys.

Don’t touch items unnecessarily and put it back, think about it like “if you touch it, it’s yours."

Don’t bring your family, there should be one designated shopper from your household doing the shopping.

Don’t forget some gloves to protect yourself from picking up germs if that makes you more comfortable...and throw them in the trash when you're done NOT ON THE GROUND OUTSIDE.

Finally do be friendly to the staff and other shoppers...this is a stressful time, so a little kindness and calm goes a very long way.
