Judge Tells Attorneys To 'Get Out Of Bed And Get Dressed' For Zoom Hearings

The justice system must continue during the coronavirus pandemic, but the way the system works has definitely had to make some big changes...

Do you use Zoom meetings to help you do your work from home? Well, so do attorneys now!

And in Florida, one Judge was so tired of seeing attorneys dressed a little too casual during their online hearings, that he wrote a letter that was published by the Weston Bar Association.

"It is remarkable how many ATTORNEYS appear inappropriately on camera," Broward Circuit Judge Dennis Bailey said. "We've seen many lawyers in casual shirts and blouses, with no concern for ill-grooming, in bedrooms with the master bed in the background, etc. One male lawyer appeared shirtless and one female attorney appeared still in bed, still under the covers."

This all comes after the US Supreme Court announced on Monday that for the first time in history, it would begin holding hearings via teleconference.

"Putting on a beach cover-up won’t cover up you’re poolside in a bathing suit,” Bailey added.
