CA Calls on Retired Docs, Nursing, Med Students to Help Battle COVID-19

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, California is calling on retired doctors and medical and nursing students to help treat the surge of patients.

Governor Newsom has signed an executive order that would temporarily expand the health care workforce.

This allows health care facilities to have an additional 50,000 hospital beds staffed by waiving certain professional licensing and certification requirements to get them at the hospitals faster.

This comes as numbers of hospitalizations have more than doubled and patients in the ICU had tripled.

Those who are eligible were asked to register at the California Health Corps website.
