Metrolink Ridership Down 80% Due To Covid-19; Reduced Schedule Starts Soon

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Metrolink will operate on a reduced schedule starting Thursday after experiencing an 80% decrease in ridership during the COVID-19 crisis, its CEO announced today.

``The lack of demand means a temporary reduction of our service levels can occur without the danger of creating crowding situations on our trains,'' Metrolink CEO Stephanie Wiggins said.

Metrolink operates in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties, and the Oceanside area of San Diego County.

``We built a temporary reduced schedule to ensure plenty of service during peak times for those who need it, and to ensure we maintain as many connections as possible,'' Wiggins said.

The reduced schedule will be in place until further notice, and can be viewed here.
