Long Beach Sex Crimes Suspect Being Sought

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A man who kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman last weekend in Long Beach remains at large, and police today released video footage in the hope that the public can help identify him.

Officers were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of Pine Avenue, where they contacted a woman who said she was sexually assaulted in her own vehicle.

The victim had pulled into a space in a parking structure and was approached by the suspect, who forced her back into her vehicle, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

“The suspect then drove the victim's vehicle to several unknown locations where the acts of sexual assault occurred. The suspect then fled the scene on foot prior to officers' arrival,” according to a LBPD statement.

Sex Crimes detectives obtained video from surveillance cameras in the area and released the footage to try to track down the suspect, described as a bald white or Hispanic man of medium build with tattoos all over his body.

He is 35 to 40 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, with blue eyes, and was wearing a white tank top, colorful beach shorts and white tennis shoes at the time he approached the victim.

“We're hoping that the public will identify this individual so we can arrest him,” Officer Emily Garcia said. “We obviously don't want anything like this to happen ever again.”

Anyone with information about his identity or whereabouts is asked to contact Long Beach Police Department Sex Crimes detectives at 562-570-7368 or Police Dispatch at 562-435-6711. Anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
