Voters in 14 states and one U.S. territory are heading to the polls to cast their votes in the Democratic presidential primary on Super Tuesday. There are 1,344 delegates up for grabs as voters in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and American Samoa vote for who they want to nominate to face President Donald Trump in November. There are also 13 delegates for Americans living abroad, who will have one week to cast their ballots.
Bernie Sanders enters the day with a slight lead over Joe Biden in the delegate count. Biden's campaign is surging after a massive victory in South Carolina. Super Tuesday also marks the first time that Mike Bloomberg will be on the ballot. He ignored the four early states and has spent over $400 million of his own money as he tries to convince voters he has the best chance to win in the general election.
California has the biggest haul of delegates with 415 at stake. Sanders has a commanding lead in the polls, but Biden's success in South Carolina has seen his numbers improve in the past few days. Bloomberg is hoping to pick up some delegates and is sitting in second place in some polls.
In Texas, where 228 pledged delegates are up for grabs, Sanders has moved into first place following his strong showing in the first four states.
Biden is leading the polls in North Carolina, which has 110 delegates. He was also leading in Tennessee and Alabama, though there have not been any recent polls in either state.
In Arkansas and Oklahoma, Bloomberg and Biden are neck-and-neck with polls showing them just a few percentage points apart.
The full results won't be known until after 11 p.m. ET when the polls in California close.
