PANORAMA CITY (CNS) - A possible murder suspect who ran from a crash at the end of a police chase in Panorama City barricaded himself inside an apartment complex for five hours before he was taken into custody.

The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed the black vehicle he was driving into a white truck near Chase Street and Willis Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Monday and ran into an apartment complex, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Streets in the area were blocked off as officers, including a SWAT team, attempted to get the suspect to surrender.

Some residents who were not allowed into their apartments were spending the night with friends, ABC7 reported.

The suspect was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m.
