In an effort to prove the Earth is flat, "Mad" Mike Hughes died Saturday after his self-build, steam-powered rocket plummeted to Earth, after a parachute malfunction. The launch was being documented by The Science Channel, for their upcoming series, "Homemade Astronauts."
"Michael 'Mad Mike' Hughes tragically passed away today during an attempt to launch his homemade rocket. Our thoughts & prayers go out to his family & friends during this difficult time. It was always his dream to do this launch & Science Channel was there to chronicle his journey," the Science Channel stated through their Twitter account.
Bryan Suits asks why he didn't climb into a commercial plane, or watch Felix Baumgartner's Record Breaking fall to Earth, during which he stated that he could see the curvature of the Earth.
