LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Ahead of the Feb. 22 Nevada Democratic Caucus, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is traveling to Las Vegas this weekend to campaign for Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden.
According to a schedule released at 10 a.m. today, the mayor on Saturday will attend an organizing event at KO Knudson Middle School, 2400 Atlantic St. At 7 p.m., Garcetti will attend the Clark County Democrats Kick Off to Caucus Gala at the Tropicana Las Vegas, 3801 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
On Sunday, Garcetti is scheduled to attend at two canvass kickoff events, one at 8:45 a.m. at the Biden for President East Las Vegas Field Office at 2790 E. Flamingo Road, Suite F, and another at 6 p.m. at the Biden for President North Las Vegas Field Office, 4841 W. Craig Road.
Officials with Garcetti's political team said the schedule is subject to change.
Garcetti is the co-chair of the Biden for President campaign.
Biden's campaign was soaring above the competition this summer in the national polls, but in recent weeks, polls show he's been eclipsed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who received the most votes in Tuesday's New Hampshire Democratic Primary Election, whereas Biden finished fifth.
Biden is in Nevada today to host an early voting event at 5 p.m. at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch at 2020 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson.
Yusef Robb, a spokesperson for Garcetti, said the mayor's trip is not being not paid for with city funds.
