Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run in Hollywood; Passenger Arrested

HOLLYWOOD (CNS) - A motorist who pulled over amid a dispute with a motorcyclist was killed in Hollywood when she fell out of her car and was run over, allegedly by her passenger, who took off, was later arrested and was in custody this morning.

Sophia Ardalan, 27, of Los Angeles, was fatally injured about 11:55 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of North Martel Avenue, near Sunset Boulevard, according to the coroner's office and Los Angeles Police Department.

Ardalan and a passenger, Samantha Cunha, 27, were in a gray Mercedes- Benz that was involved in a minor crash with a motorcyclist.

“Both the driver and passenger of the gray Mercedes exited the vehicle and engaged in an argument with the motorcyclist,” the LAPD said in a statement.

“(Cunha) then entered the front passenger seat of the vehicle which started to move forward with the driver's side door open. (Ardalan) attempted to enter the driver's seat of the moving vehicle as the vehicle collided with the curb and a tree.”

Ardalan was knocked down and “became trapped under the Mercedes and succumbed to her injuries.”

Cunha fled the scene, Capt. Brian Wendling told reporters early this morning. She was arrested shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday and was booked for felony hit-and-run and was being held on $50,000 bail.

The motorcyclist remained at the scene.
