The New Orleans Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The warrant stems from an incident that reportedly occurred in LSU's locker room following their National Championship victory.
Video appears to show Beckham slapping the butt of a police officer, who was speaking with LSU right guard Damien Lewis. Earlier reports said that players were threatened with arrest for smoking cigars in the locker room after the game. While the officer was looking for evidence that the players were smoking, Beckham slapped him on the butt. The officer turned around and exchanged words with Beckham but did not take him into custody.
Authorities wanted to charge Beckham with misdemeanor sexual battery, but a judge denied their request, and he was charged with simple battery.
That was not the only controversial thing Beckham did following LSU's victory. After the game was over, he was seen handing out cash to some of the players. The school said they were unsure if the money was real or fake, and is working with the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference to investigate. If the money was real, LSU and the players who accepted it could be sanctioned by the NCAA.
