The Sydney Opera House is paying tribute to the firefighters working to contain the catastrophic brush fires in Australia.
Over the weekend, the exterior 'sails' of the iconic building were lit up with images of firefighters battling the blazes in record heat.
"We want to send a message of hope and strength, and importantly to thank the emergency services and volunteers for their incredible efforts and courage," the opera house tweeted.
Three firefighters have died so far fighting the brush fires, which have scorched at area more than twice the size of Maryland and done major damage to the local wildlife population.
Experts say the blazes, which have killed at least 27 people, are exacerbated by climate change. As many as 1 billion animals are thought to have been killed so far across the country in the fires.
