More than 50 people were killed on Tuesday after a stampede broke out during the Soleimani funeral...
The funeral was held in Kerman, hometown of Revolutionary Guard General Quassem Soleimani, after the top Iranian general was killed in a U.S. airstrike last week.
“Unfortunately as a result of the stampede, some of our compatriots have been injured and some have been killed during the funeral processions," Pirhossein Koulivand, head of Iran's emergency medical services said.
There have yet to be any reports of what caused the stampede. According to Iranian state news, at least 56 have died and more than 200 were left injured.
