Two Carnival Cruise Ships Collide In Mexico

Two Carnival cruise ships collided near the port city of Cozumel in Mexico. The Carnival Glory was attempting to dock when it struck the Carnival Legend. The Glory almost also collided with the Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas, which was moored nearby, but was able to avoid hitting a second ship.

Passengers were evacuated from both ships and only one person suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The Glory suffered extensive damage, but Carnival said that the ship is still seaworthy.

"We are assessing the damage, but there are no issues that impact the seaworthiness of either ship. We have advised guests from both ships to enjoy their day ashore in Cozumel," Carnival said in a statement.

The cruise line did not say if they planned to alter the itinerary of either ship. The Glory was making its last stop on a seven-day cruise to the Western Caribbean. It is scheduled to return to New Orleans on December 22. The Legend is expected to finish up its journey and return to Tampa on Sunday.

Passengers shared multiple photos and videos of the crash and its aftermath online.
