A new California law has caused freelance journalist to take their issues to legal challenges.

This new law is aiming to make companies use independent contractors by placing restriction on their contract work.

The new labor law AB5 would make news outlet limit individuals to only 35 pieces per year before they can be hired as full or part-time employees.

Freelance journalists are worried that this will make employees less likely to convert with benefits and protections.

This came one day after Vox Media announced they will be cutting hundreds of freelance writers living in California because of AB5.

Join us later today at 5:00 to hear from the Pacific Legal Foundation talk about this lawsuit and if the journalists have a case they can win.
