LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 42nd consecutive day, decreasing a half-cent to $3.67, its lowest amount since Sept. 3.
The average price has dropped 45.9 cents during the streak, including four-tenths of a cent Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 5.7 cents less than one week ago and 32.8 cents lower than one month ago, but 24.9 cents more than one year ago.
The streak of decreases is the longest since a 46-day run from May 8- June 22.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 43rd consecutive day, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.589, its lowest amount since Aug. 30. It has dropped 49.9 cents during the streak, including two-tenths of a cent Monday.
The Orange County average price is 5.6 cents less than one week ago and 35.1 cents lower than one month ago, but 21.3 cents more than one year ago.
