Holiday Travelers Benefit As Gas Prices Continue To Fall

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 39th consecutive day, decreasing 1 cent to $3.684, its lowest amount since Sept. 16.

The average price has dropped 44.5 cents during the streak, including 1.2 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 7.2 cents less than one week ago and 36.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 26.1 cents more than one year ago.

The streak of decreases is the longest since a 46-day run from May 8- June 22.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 40th consecutive day, decreasing 1.1 cents to $3.602, its lowest amount since Aug. 30. It has dropped 48.6 cents during the streak, including 1.2 cents Friday.

The Orange County average price is 7.5 cents less than one week ago and 39.1 cents lower than one month ago, but 23.3 cents more than one year ago.
