An Oklahoma police officer working on Thanksgiving night stopped for a coffee from Starbucks - only to have the barista write the word 'Pig' on the cup.

Kiefer Police Chief Johnny O'Mara says the officer was picking up coffee for the dispatchers to thank them for working on a holiday.

“What irks me is the absolute and total disrespect for a police officer who, instead of being home with family and enjoying a meal and a football game, is patrolling his little town,” O'Mara wrote in a Facebook post that quickly went viral.

A Starbucks rep called the incident 'absolutely unacceptable' and said the barista has been suspended pending an investigation.

The police chief said that when he called the coffee chain, they offered to "replace the coffee with a correct label," but he said that given Starbucks' track record of other anti-police incidents, he wasn't buying it.

“The proverb ‘Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me’ came to mind," he wrote.

"Our society needs a touch of old fashioned civility restored," O'Mara concluded. "Maybe we could use this bad event and convert it into something better."
