LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 20th consecutive day, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $3.895, its lowest amount since Sept. 25.
The average price has dropped 23.4 cents during the streak, including 1.3 cents Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 9.7 cents less than one week ago and 21.2 cents lower than a month ago, but 25.4 cents more than one year ago.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 21st consecutive day, decreasing a half-cent to $3.839, its lowest amount since Sept. 25. It has dropped 24.9 cents over the past 21 days. The Orange County average price is 9.9 cents less than a week ago and 22.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 25.1 cents more than a year ago.
“Based on rapid price drops in the Los Angeles wholesale gasoline market this week, we expect the price drops to continue as Thanksgiving approaches,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
