Southland Gas Prices Drop Again

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 18th consecutive day, decreasing 1.6 cents to $3.915, its lowest amount since Sept. 26.

The average price has dropped 21.4 cents over the past 18 days, including 1.9 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 9.4 cents less than one week ago and 22.5 cents lower than a month ago, but 26.4 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 19th consecutive day, decreasing 1.5 cents to $3.856, its lowest amount since Sept. 25. It has dropped 23.2 cents over the past 19 days, including 2.2 cents Friday. The Orange County average price is 9.8 cents less than a week ago and 24.2 cents lower than one month ago, but 25.7 cents more than a year ago.

“Based on rapid price drops in the Los Angeles wholesale gasoline market this week, we expect the price drops to continue as Thanksgiving approaches,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
