Lifeguards Continue to Monitor Venice Beach After Needles Found

VENICE (CNS) - Los Angeles County lifeguards continue to watch the sand around Venice Beach today after a large amount of medical waste was found south of the pier, authorities said.

The discovery was made about 11:30 a.m. Sunday and lifeguards cordoned off the area for about four hours, officials said.

The waste included needles and lancets, officials said.

“The source is unknown and under investigation,” lifeguards said on Twitter. “LACoLifeguards will continue to patrol the area by land and sea to monitor for any further materials.”
