PACOIMA (CNS) - Four Los Angeles Police officers were injured today when they crashed on a freeway on-ramp in Pacoima while pursuing robbery suspects, authorities said.

The officers were later treated and released from area hospitals, said Officer Jeff Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

The pursuit began at 4:30 a.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Wentworth Street, Lee said.

“The call was actually `wanted for a carjacking that occurred in the Bay Area yesterday,”' he said.

There was a collision during the pursuit on the Glenoaks Boulevard on- ramp from the westbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, Lee said.

The two female suspects, who were occupants in a white Mercedes-Benz SUV, were taken into custody, he said. They were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries and will later be arrested on suspicion of evading police officers as well as potential pending charges, Lee said.
