Brushfire Erupts in Santa Clarita

fire breaks out in Santa Clarita

Some homes are threatened by a brush fire that broke out around midday on hillside near a college campus in the Santa Clarita area.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the fire broke out below The Master's University in the 21500 block of Deputy Jake Drive. Firefighters say the blaze has burned at least 7 acres in what is being described as medium to light brush. Forward progress on the fire has been stopped.

One water-dropping aircraft was currently over the blaze.

No mandatory evacuations have been ordered, however a nearby elementary school has been evacuated.
