Fatal Crash Prompts Lane Closures on San Gabriel River (605) Freeway

INDUSTRY (CNS) - A man was killed this morning when the vehicle he was in crashed on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Industry, rolled down an embankment and plunged into the San Gabriel River, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 12:20 a.m. just north of the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash prompted the closure of the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the southbound San Gabriel River Freeway for three-and-a-half hours before they reopened at 4:50 a.m., the CHP said.

Paramedics located the man in the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The age and name of the victim were not immediately available and no other injuries were reported, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
