Hostage to the Homeless: Journalist Heather Mac Donald Goes Undercover

Heather Mac Donald is a contributing editor to City Journal as well as Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute. She's also appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The New Republic.

But recently, she took her journalism to the next level...

Heather Mac Donald went undercover as a homeless woman in San Francisco to figure out exactly what/who/where the problems are.

"San Francisco is not going to solve its street squalor unless it commits to a foundational principle: street living is not allowed, period," she writes. "Carving out a zone of immunity from the law and bourgeois norms for a perceived victim class destroys the quality of urban existence."
