Ever heard of ASMR?
ASMR stands for "Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response," and it's ranking in the views (and the money) on YouTube.
"It typically refers to the "tingly feeling" that travels from the head downward that some experience in response to certain sounds, feelings, or descriptions," according to Merriam-Webster. "These can include soft whispering, crinkling paper, or a gentle touch."
The YouTube videos, intended to induce those "tingly feelings", started gaining popularity back in 2010, but now they have their own "corner of the internet"... and the YouTube ASMR stars are making some MONEY!
Some call them ‘ASMRtists’, but I call them brilliant.
According to Business Insider, YouTube's top ASMR channel makes at least $130,000 a year. Check out one of her videos below:
Her name is Maria 'Gentle Whispering' Viktorovna, and she's known on YouTube for her sleep-aid videos.
Maybe you're thinking... Maybe ASMR could help you get better sleep?! You're not alone... She has 1.76 million subscribers that would agree.(Viktorovna's ASMR is so popular, she even got a second channel to give people a 'behind the scenes' look into her ASRMtist life!)
Soooo... Who's the next big ASMR Star? Could it be...
MONDO?
