There was an odd trend where women would leave various countries in Europe and the United States to marry people in ISIS and other terrorist organizations.

Some years later, some of these new members of ISIS wanted to return to their countries of origin.

The BBC reports that Yago Riedijk and Shamima Begum are two such examples of this happening.

Begum left her home of the UK at the age of 15 to marry Riedijk who was aged 23 at the time. After her leaving the UK, her citizenship was revoked.

Riedijk claimed that he saw no problem marrying Begum because it was "her choice".

He also admits to fighting for IS before being captured by Kurdish forces.

Begum, now 19, was last known leaving a Syrian refugee camp with the couple's newborn son.

Riedjik, originally a Dutch citizen, is trying to get back to the Netherlands with Begum and his son, but it doesn't look like he is going to have any luck. Although his citizenship wasn't revoked, he is still on a terrorist watch-list. However, their son may be entitled to citizenship.

For the time being, though, it doesn't look like this couple and many others will not be coming back into Europe anytime soon.
