LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man in his 30s was killed in a shooting in an upscale downtown Los Angeles apartment building and the shooter was at large this morning.

Police responded about 6:50 p.m. Thursday to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of West Ninth Street, near Flower Street, where the victim was located in an elevator in the lobby of the building and pronounced dead, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The victim's name not immediately available, nor was any suspect information, police said.

Multiple broadcast reports identified the building as the Watermarke Tower, located at 705 W. Ninth St.

Monthly rents at the Watermarke range from about $2,800 to more than $14,600, according to the building's website.

Some residents who were evacuated from their apartments during the police investigation were allowed back in after midnight.
