L.A. County Jobless Rate Holds Steady in September

U.S. Employers Add 207,000 Jobs In July

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Los Angeles County held steady at 4.4% in September, compared to the previous month, the state Employment Development Department reported today.

Last month's unemployment rate was below the September 2018 rate, which was 4.6%, according to the EDD.

In Orange County, where seasonally adjusted numbers were not available, the September jobless rate was 2.4%, down from 3% in August.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4% in September, down from the 4.1% rate in August and from 4.1% in September 2018.

According to the EDD, total nonfarm employment in Los Angeles County increased by 18,200 between August and September to reach more than 4.5 million. The government sector led with way by adding 15,400 jobs.
