80 years ago, World War II had just begun and Nazi Germany introduced the cruiser, the Graf Spee.
Business Insider reports that the ship was bigger than the British ships it wound up fighting.
While the ship was in the Atlantic Ocean, the British Royal Navy was able to corner it and score an early victory for the Allies.
Winston Churchill said this at the time:
"This brilliant sea fight takes its place in our naval annals and in a long, cold, dark winter it warmed the cockles of the British hearts".
He also said:
"This great battle will long be told in song and story".
Now you can listen to Bryan Suits fulfill this prediction. Below you'll learn everything you need to about the ship and the battle that took it down.
