Businessmen Tied To Giuliani, Ukraine Arrested On Campaign Finance Charges

Two foreign-born businessmen who now live in Florida and are connected to Rudy Giuliani's efforts to get Ukraine to investigate alleged corruption by Joe Biden and his son Hunter, have been arrested on charges of violating campaign finance laws.

Federal authorities say the two men, Igor Fruman and Lev Parnas, made $325,000 in illegal straw donations to a Trump super PAC in 2018.

The indictment alleges that the two men "conspired to circumvent the federal laws against foreign influence by engaging in a scheme to funnel foreign money to candidates for federal and state office so that the defendants could buy potential influence with candidates, campaigns and the candidates' governments."

Officials say the men donated the money to American First Action through their company, Global Energy Producers LLC, in an effort to hide the origins of the funds.

The two men were asked to testify before the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, and Oversight Committees as part of their impeachment inquiry. Giuliani previously admitted to working with the two men in his efforts to get the Ukrainian government to investigate the Bidens. Their attorney, John Dowd, said that they would not comply with the request to turn over documents or testify in front of Congress.
